Product Overview

The Sony IMX283CQJ-C CMOS image sensor delivers 20.18 MP resolution, high sensitivity, and low power consumption for high-performance imaging.

The Sony IMX283CQJ-C is a high-performance CMOS image sensor designed for applications requiring both high resolution and efficient power consumption. With a diagonal size of 15.86 mm (Type 1) and an effective pixel count of approximately 20.30 megapixels, this sensor is ideal for capturing high-definition images in both still photography and video applications. Its color square pixel array offers a resolution of 5496 x 3672 pixels, making it suitable for detailed imaging in a variety of use cases, such as industrial inspection, medical imaging, and high-end consumer devices.

This sensor supports 12-bit digital output, enabling high-definition signal processing for the full 20.30 MP. It operates efficiently with three power supply voltages-analog 2.9 V, digital 1.2 V, and 1.8 V-ensuring low power consumption while maintaining its performance capabilities. The IMX283CQJ-C's power efficiency makes it particularly valuable for applications where energy conservation is critical, such as battery-powered or portable devices.

In addition to still photography, the IMX283CQJ-C is also optimized for high-speed video capture. By using horizontal and vertical pixel addition and subsampling, the sensor can produce 12-bit digital output for high-speed and high-definition video. It supports frame rates of up to 22 fps (frames per second), offering smooth video capture while maintaining the sensor's high resolution.

This sensor features a rolling shutter with a global reset release function, combining the benefits of a rolling shutter with the added advantage of minimizing motion distortion. This feature is critical for applications where both high frame rates and minimal image distortion are necessary. Additionally, the IMX283CQJ-C offers high sensitivity and low dark current, ensuring excellent performance in low-light conditions, further enhancing its versatility across various imaging environments.

The sensor’s electronic shutter also supports variable storage times, which allows greater control over exposure in diverse lighting conditions. This level of flexibility is particularly useful in industrial settings or other environments where lighting can be unpredictable, requiring adaptable exposure settings for optimal image quality.

With a pixel size of 2.4 x 2.4 µm, the IMX283CQJ-C ensures that each pixel captures a high amount of light, contributing to its excellent image clarity and performance in both bright and low-light situations. The sensor's MIPI interface and 118-pin ceramic packaging allow for smooth integration into a wide range of devices, making it highly adaptable for custom applications.

The IMX283CQJ-C is particularly suited for applications requiring high precision and flexibility, such as machine vision, surveillance, and advanced industrial automation. It delivers both high image quality and operational efficiency, making it a robust solution for developers looking to implement cutting-edge imaging technology into their systems.

Overall, the Sony IMX283CQJ-C offers a blend of high-resolution imaging, power efficiency, and versatile performance, making it a standout choice for applications that require both still and video imaging at high resolutions. With its rolling shutter and global reset release function, low power requirements, and excellent light sensitivity, this sensor is well-equipped to handle a wide array of imaging challenges in both industrial and consumer markets.
