Speed Enforcement

Reliable imaging for motion-sensitive traffic enforcement

Speed enforcement systems need clear vehicle and license plate image data while subjects are moving quickly, often across multiple lanes and changing outdoor lighting conditions.

For motion-sensitive traffic imaging, FSM:GO IMX900 is a strong starting point with global shutter capture, compact module design, and enhanced NIR sensitivity. For applications requiring more scene detail, FSM:GO IMX678 / IMX838 provide 4K imaging, HDR support, and strong low-light performance. FRAMOS supports speed enforcement imaging with system-ready camera modules, matched optics, optimized image pipelines, platform support, and custom integration support for roadside enforcement systems.

Capture performance

OCR confidence drops when the module does not match the speed - and that means the evidence fails

For a speed enforcement image to be legally admissible, the OCR algorithm needs to read the plate with enough confidence. At 100 km/h, a rolling shutter camera with a long exposure produces motion blur that reduces character legibility and drops OCR confidence below the admissibility threshold. FSM:GO IMX900 combines global shutter capture, a short matched exposure, and validated optics - keeping plate characters sharp and OCR confidence above threshold at any enforcement speed.

Global shutter: no geometry distortion
All pixels exposed simultaneously. No per-row readout delay means plate characters are captured intact at 150 km/h - geometry stays accurate for OCR and classification.
Matched exposure: 1/3000s at 150 km/h
A vehicle at 150 km/h moves just 1.4 cm during a 1/3000s exposure. The matched lens and shutter speed keep each character sharp enough for reliable plate reads.
Admissibility threshold: ~85% confidence
OCR confidence below ~85% typically renders a plate read inadmissible for enforcement. Rolling shutter blur at speed drops confidence into the fail zone - a module selection issue, not an algorithm issue.
Built for speed enforcement imaging

Imaging across every enforcement requirement

From highway gantries to roadside fixed cameras, FSM:GO modules combine the sensor performance, optics, interface options, and integration support enforcement systems require.

Global Shutter for Moving Vehicles

FSM:GO IMX900 eliminates motion distortion when capturing fast-moving vehicles - plate geometry is accurate at any speed, keeping OCR and enforcement algorithms reliable.

Enhanced NIR Sensitivity

Strong NIR response supports license plate capture under controlled illumination setups - consistent plate legibility in low-light and nighttime enforcement environments.

4K and High-Resolution Options

FSM:GO IMX678 / IMX838 provide 4K imaging and HDR support for multi-lane coverage and greater scene detail. IMX838 supports regulated infrastructure programs where NDAA-aligned sourcing matters.

Matched Lens Options

Validated optics at 33, 76, and 102 degrees HFoV - application-specific focusing maintains plate and vehicle detail at the required capture distance for roadside and gantry installations.

Interface Options for Roadside Deployment

PixelMate, FFC, MicroCoax, and GMSL support compact systems, distributed camera placement, and roadside installations where the camera is physically separated from the processing unit.

Calibration and Image Quality

Focusing, image quality services, and geometric calibration improve consistency for enforcement and measurement workflows - reducing system integration time and field calibration effort.

Use cases

Where FSM:GO performs in speed enforcement

01

Fixed roadside and gantry cameras

Permanent enforcement cameras mounted at roadside or overhead capturing vehicles across one or multiple lanes. FSM:GO IMX900 delivers sharp plate data under active NIR illumination day and night, with GMSL and MicroCoax interface options for long cable runs to roadside processing units.

02

ANPR / ALPR and multi-lane monitoring

High-throughput ANPR systems covering multiple lanes require sufficient resolution and field of view to capture each vehicle cleanly. FSM:GO IMX678 / IMX838 provide 4K HDR imaging for consistent capture across lanes under varying outdoor lighting - IMX838 for regulated infrastructure programs.

03

Mobile and portable enforcement

Mobile speed cameras and portable enforcement systems benefit from compact, self-contained module design. FSM:GO IMX900's small footprint, validated optics, and PixelMate interface support rapid deployment in vehicle-mounted and tripod-based configurations without custom camera bringup.
