The Sony IMX477AACK-C offers a high-performance 12.3 MP sensor with Exmor RS technology for fast and low-noise imaging.

The Sony IMX477-AACK-C is a high-performance CMOS image sensor designed for applications requiring excellent image quality and fast image processing. With a diagonal size of 7.857 mm (Type 1/2.3) and a resolution of 12.3 megapixels, it offers high-speed imaging through its advanced Exmor RS™ technology. This sensor features a stacked architecture, enabling efficient signal processing and reducing noise compared to traditional CMOS sensors, thanks to its backside-illuminated (BSI) pixel structure.

The IMX477 employs an RGB primary color mosaic filter, which captures accurate color reproduction, making it ideal for applications such as photography, video recording, and industrial imaging systems. Its square pixel array with 1.55 x 1.55 µm pixels enables detailed image capture at a resolution of 4072 x 3064 pixels.

One of the key advantages of the IMX477 is its high-speed image capture capability, supported by column-parallel A/D converter circuits. It can achieve up to 60 frames per second (fps) in standard RGB mode and up to 40 fps when using phase detection autofocus (PDAF) for fast, accurate focusing in dynamic scenes. This makes it well-suited for applications such as machine vision, robotics, and high-speed video applications.

Additionally, the sensor features a rolling shutter and an electronic shutter with variable integration time, allowing flexibility in capturing images in various lighting conditions. The rolling shutter configuration helps maintain image clarity and reduces artifacts during fast motion capture, a critical requirement for video and real-time imaging applications.

Power efficiency is another key feature of the IMX477. It operates with three power supply voltages: 2.8 V for analog circuits (tentative), 1.05 V for digital operations, and 1.8 V for input/output interface, ensuring low power consumption while maintaining high performance. This makes it an excellent choice for portable devices and applications requiring minimal energy usage, such as drones and handheld cameras.
