Description

The Sony IMX252LLR EVB-Kit is a comprehensive evaluation system designed to facilitate the testing and integration of the Sony IMX252LLR CMOS image sensor. This kit allows users to quickly assess the sensor’s performance in real-time, outputting raw image data directly to a PC screen. By utilizing the components included in the kit, engineers and developers can evaluate the sensor’s capabilities in various industrial applications, from factory automation to high-speed quality control systems.

The IMX252LLR is a high-performance global shutter CMOS sensor that boasts approximately 3.19 million effective pixels with a pixel size of 3.45 µm. Its global shutter technology ensures that the sensor captures fast-moving objects without distortion, a common issue with rolling shutter sensors. This makes it particularly well-suited for industrial environments where motion precision and high-speed imaging are critical. The sensor can handle frame rates up to 216.2 frames per second in 8-bit mode, ensuring smooth real-time imaging in demanding conditions.

Key features of the IMX252LLR EVB-Kit include:

  • 3.19 million effective pixels for high-resolution imaging
  • Global shutter technology to eliminate motion distortion in fast-moving subjects
  • Support for high frame rates of up to 216.2 fps in 8-bit mode
  • ROI (Region of Interest) mode that allows selective capture of image areas, optimizing processing and data output
  • Trigger mode for precise control over exposure timing, which is essential in synchronized imaging setups

In addition to these advanced features, the IMX252LLR incorporates Sony’s Pregius technology, which leverages a CCD-like structure to deliver high image quality with low noise. This makes it an optimal choice for applications where both high speed and image fidelity are required. Its versatility extends to the ability to capture Full HD resolution images while maintaining a low noise profile, which is crucial for environments with variable lighting or near-infrared requirements.

The Evaluation Board (EVB) includes a sensor driver board, interface board, lens mount mechanism (lens not included), and a CD with comprehensive information for easy integration and testing. This EVB-Kit provides a full environment for evaluating the sensor's performance, making it easier to test in various real-world scenarios without additional setup time.

By using the Sony IMX252LLR EVB-Kit, developers can harness the full potential of this global shutter sensor, optimizing it for high-precision imaging applications such as factory automation, traffic surveillance, and real-time monitoring systems, all while ensuring minimal motion distortion and maximum image clarity.
