Description

This FRAMOS Sensor Module (FSM-IMX678) integrates Sony's IMX678 sensor into a compact 26.5 mm x 26.5 mm module. With a rolling shutter design, it delivers a native resolution of 8.3 megapixels, and its optical format is 1/1.8 inches with a pixel size of 2 x 2 µm. The module's MIPI CSI-2 interface supports up to four data lanes, providing efficient data transfer for various real-time imaging applications, including 4K video capture and advanced surveillance systems.

The FSM-IMX678 is part of the FRAMOS Sensor Module Ecosystem, which is built around a modular design, ensuring compatibility with various processing platforms. This ecosystem allows for the integration of multiple sensors through standardized connectors, giving developers flexibility when building embedded vision systems. Additionally, optional FRAMOS Sensor Adapters (FSA) provide a standardized interface to FRAMOS Processor Adapters (FPA), enabling seamless connections to proprietary processing systems.

Enhanced by Sony’s STARVIS 2™ technology, the IMX678 sensor delivers superior low-light performance and improved sensitivity, making it ideal for dynamic environments. This technology is optimized for security, surveillance, and smart city applications, where enhanced image quality under low-light conditions is essential. The FSM-IMX678 module is capable of high-resolution video streaming up to 60 frames per second (FPS) in 4K, ensuring smooth and detailed video capture even in challenging lighting environments.

For easy setup, the FSM-IMX678 is supported by a robust Software Pack, which includes reference drivers for major platforms like NVIDIA® Jetson™ TX2, Jetson™ AGX Xavier™, and Jetson™ AGX Orin™. This comprehensive support allows developers to quickly prototype and test their vision systems. The module is available with various lens mount options, including M12 and C/CS-mounts, to accommodate a wide range of lenses for different applications.

To expedite product development, everything necessary to evaluate the FSM-IMX678 can be purchased off-the-shelf. FRAMOS recommends acquiring the sensor module alongside a platform-specific Development Kit (Devkit), which includes all essential components for fast setup and testing. These kits help engineers streamline their time-to-market with reliable hardware and software integration solutions.

  • Compact 26.5 mm x 26.5 mm module for seamless integration into compact vision systems.
  • Native resolution of 8.3 MP ensures high-quality imaging for both stills and video capture.
  • Supports 4K video at up to 60 FPS, making it ideal for real-time surveillance and monitoring applications.
  • Enhanced low-light performance and sensitivity due to Sony STARVIS 2™ technology.
  • Part of the FRAMOS Sensor Module Ecosystem, offering flexible compatibility with various processing platforms.
  • Standardized software support for easy integration into platforms such as NVIDIA® Jetson™ and AGX Xavier™.
  • Wide operating temperature range from -30°C to +85°C, suitable for industrial and outdoor environments.

The FSM-IMX678 provides an ideal solution for developers requiring a high-performance sensor module for embedded vision applications. Its ability to deliver outstanding image quality in both well-lit and low-light environments makes it perfect for applications in security, smart cities, and more. The extensive support through the FRAMOS ecosystem ensures easy integration and a fast track to market for various imaging projects.
