Description

The FRAMOS Sensor Module FSM-IMX297 is a compact and efficient imaging solution, designed to offer flexibility and performance in a wide range of embedded vision applications. With a module size of just 26.5 mm x 26.5 mm, this sensor module integrates seamlessly into space-constrained designs, making it ideal for industries where size is critical, such as robotics, drones, and industrial automation.

The IMX297 is a Global Shutter sensor that provides a native resolution of 0.4 megapixels (MP) and utilizes an optical format of 1/2.9, with a pixel size of 6.9 x 6.9 µm. This sensor is well-suited for capturing high-speed motion, reducing motion blur, and ensuring high-quality image capture in dynamic environments. Its Global Shutter technology excels in applications requiring fast and accurate object detection, such as barcode scanning, machine vision, and quality inspection systems.

One of the key features of this sensor module is its MIPI CSI-2 interface, which supports up to 1-data lane for quick data transfer and efficient integration with various processing platforms. As part of the FRAMOS Sensor Module Ecosystem, the FSM leverages an advanced connectivity framework, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of processors through FRAMOS Sensor Adapters (FSA) and FRAMOS Processor Adapters (FPA). These adapters provide a standard interface, simplifying the integration process with proprietary and commercial processing platforms like the NVIDIA® Jetson™ series.

The FSM is designed with flexibility in mind. Optional FRAMOS Sensor Adapters (FSA) allow seamless communication with several processor types via FRAMOS Processor Adapters (FPA). This modular approach offers a significant advantage by providing developers the freedom to adapt the sensor to a variety of hardware setups. For example, the module can be integrated with NVIDIA® Jetson™ TX2 and Jetson™ AGX Xavier™ development boards, allowing users to leverage NVIDIA's powerful AI computing capabilities for high-performance imaging and machine learning applications.

FRAMOS also supports developers with a comprehensive software package, which includes reference drivers and additional software tools. These resources ensure a straightforward setup and accelerate the development process. The package is optimized for use with popular development environments, starting with NVIDIA's Jetson™ platform, but can also be tailored for other platforms if needed. The standardized software pack allows users to quickly start imaging projects and evaluate the sensor's performance without extensive custom development.

  • Compact 26.5 mm x 26.5 mm sensor module design, perfect for space-constrained applications.
  • Global Shutter technology with a native resolution of 0.4 MP and pixel size of 6.9 x 6.9 µm, ideal for fast-moving object capture.
  • MIPI CSI-2 interface with up to 1-data lane, providing quick data transfer for embedded vision systems.
  • Flexible integration via FRAMOS Sensor Adapters (FSA) and Processor Adapters (FPA) with compatibility across multiple processing platforms.
  • Standardized software pack, including reference drivers for platforms like NVIDIA® Jetson™ TX2 and Jetson™ AGX Xavier™.

One of the main advantages of the FRAMOS Sensor Module is the ability to quickly evaluate the sensor's performance right out of the box. Everything required for setup, from the sensor module itself to the necessary adapters and software, can be purchased off-the-shelf, allowing developers to immediately begin working with the sensor upon receipt. FRAMOS recommends pairing the FSM with platform-specific development kits (Devkits) for streamlined evaluation and development workflows.

For additional support and resources, including detailed technical documentation and troubleshooting guides, FRAMOS offers a comprehensive knowledge base. This knowledge base provides developers with valuable insights and step-by-step instructions to ensure a smooth integration process.
